Tuesday's Tip: How to Use Strawberry Tops

We swear we don't only think about how to enhance our water and beverages, but with the temperatures already in the high 70's and low 80's, we can't help but have Summer on our mind and worry about how we will keep cool....

Love this tip from Food52 on how to use, and not throw away, your strawberry tops:

"Just take your strawberry tips -- which you've already rinsed, right? -- and dump them into a large jar. Fill it with water, then let it sit for an hour or so. It will create a softly infused, fruity water -- a rounder, sweeter version of the cucumber stuff that you're used to drinking at fancy spas, as you sit next to strangers in robes and jam out to Enya. It will keep you refreshed all summer, and it will make your strawberry budget stretch a little further."

Tuesday's Tip: Custom Lemonade

New series! Check back each week for a (hopefully) helpful, useful and easy tip. One week it could be how to care for your oriental rug and another week it could be how to....

This week's tip is perfect for summer entertaining.

Do you like your lemonade sweet or tart? Everyone likes their lemonade differently (tart for me!), right? Martha's smart idea - let everyone mix their own lemonade!

Lay out all the necessary ingredients, the freshly juiced lemonade, the sugar water, and let your guests make their lemonade as sweet or tart as they would like.

Martha's tips:

- Provide separate containers of fresh lemonade juice, sugar syrup, and water
- Provide glasses, ice, and stirrers
- A good starting ratio is one part juice, two parts syrup, and three parts water
- Prepare the sugar syrup ahead of time

Another tip? Give your guests the option to mix in different kinds of fresh juices like fresh orange juice or grapefruit juice. Maybe even some freshly grated ginger?

From Our Clearance Section: Kashan

The Kashan carpet originates in a town of the same name located in the western portion of central Iran. It was a lonely treeless area where the inhabitants found their artistic outlet in carpet weaving and other fine textile production. As the industry developed the quality and fame of the Kashan carpet grew. The design and artistry of the carpet is of a very high standard and it remains today as one of the truly great and classic weaves. Woven in either an all-over design or with a central medallion and corner design, the Kashan carpet is beautifully balanced and graceful. In soft earthtones or richly colored in deep reds and blues, the pallet of colors work in beautiful harmony with the design.

Have You Turned Your Rug This Year?

Happy Fall! We can't believe September is over and October is here. Crazy how fast time flies.

The arrival of a new season is the perfect time to do one of the most important, and easiest things, you can do for your rug - turning your rug. It's a simple task, but the extra TLC will go a long way to protect the quality and longevity of your rug.

A simple turn and you're done for the year. If your rug experiences heavy traffic, we recommend turning your rug every 6 months.

We know this is hard to remember to do every year, so set a calendar reminder. Schedule a reminder for once a year or for every 6 months, and then have the event repeat every year. Just remember to add an end date (trust us, your computer/phone like end dates). You won't have to think about it for a very long time and your rug will appreciate the extra effort.
